Welcome 2006 FFL Managers
The 2006 Fantasy Football Season brought back eleven of the twelve teams from last year and added three rookies (Dante, Fleek and ICONS V) to give us a total of fourteen teams. This season kept the competitiveness that we enjoyed last year and built upon that foudation. I think we fine-tuned any scoring issues we had from last season and the only gripe I have heard so far is about a few managers not staying active. The goal of the league is to maintain fourteen solid and active managers, so we will revisit that in the off season.
This year's final results and regular season standings are displayed below. Last year's stats are in the Top Ten and Results links above. At some point I will need to create a little archive so we can hold onto this data for historical purposes. The season awards have also been finalized, mostly based on stats, but a couple may have some subjective rulings. All in all, enjoy them as they are there to add a little something extra to the league. Finally, I just want to thank all the managers for making this another great fantasy football season!

2006 Regular Season Standings

2006 Season Awards
- Rookie of the Year - The Giggity Giggitys. Starting with the number two overall pick, he put together a solid team, squeezing into the number eight playoff spot in the last game of the regular season. In the playoffs, he beat the number one seed and finished fourth overall. Definitely a great run for a rookie in this league.
- Best Overall Draft - Unagi Rolls. The formula that I use is likely to change every year, but based on draft position, final regular season standings, total points scored and number of moves, Unagi Rolls came out with the best drafted players for the season. I guess this could be the award that can be controversal each year!
- "Whoopin' Stick" Award - Mellow Johnny. In Week 12, he brought the whoopin' stick to Jorge's Shockers, beating him by 96.87 points, which also happened to be the league's highest score.
- "Steamroller" Award - Amaru Star. Starting the season off with six wins not only gave him a virtual playoff berth early in the year, but also was the most consecutive wins by any team this season. Even counting the playoffs, Mellow Johnny only won five in a row.
- Mover and Shaker Award - Amaru Star. He had a total of 48 moves during the season, edging out Burr Oak (last year's winner of this award). With a bigger league, the amount of moves was certainly less than last year. While moves aren't going to guarantee you the best team, this year it allowed him to go 11-2 and take the number one seed in the playoffs.
- "Razor's Edge" Award - Week 3, Burr Oak Burritos v. Unagi Rolls. There were several very close games this year and two that were decided by less than a point. But this matchup took the cake, with Unagi Rolls winning by .15 points. Truly the definition of winning by an edge.
- Best Player Award - LaDainian Tomlinson. At 454.83 points and close to 100 points more than the second highest scorer, mal-one's squad had the best player in the league. Drafted third overall, it still shows that the best player is not always the first player chosen in the draft. Unfortunately, having the best player in the league doesn't make up for a sub-par team, as mal-one's squad finished in last place.
- Single-Game "En Fuego" Award - Mellow Johnny. The high game of the year was by him in Week 12, 234.24. Not only was he the only manager to break 200 points this year, but he did it twice.
- "Technical Difficulty" Award - BiggerFasterStronger. Last season's champ started the year off with technical difficulties in the draft. With an odd choice on auto-draft, his first six picks were defensive players, so by the time he got online and in the draft, the season was over. BFS finished thirteenth, which shows how important the draft is, but I am sure he will be back strong next season, without any draft problems.
- Manager of the Year - Mellow Johnny. He built his team from the ninth overall draft pick and although he only had an 8-5 record, he scored the most points in the league, finishing second in the regular season. With a late run of high-scoring games, he continued into the playoffs and took the championship by consisent and solid scoring.
